SUMMARY:Cyber-MAR | 1st Review meeting 2020\, virtual
DESCRIPTION:The first Cyber-MAR review meeting was held on 10th of November 2020\, virtually due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the cascading effects of travel cancelling. \nThe project coordinator (ICCS) provided a thorough presentation of each WP’s progress during the first year of the project. The WP leaders presented in detail the work done so far\, demonstrating results\, facts and achievements as these have occurred during the first 12 months lifetime. \n \nThe EU was represented by the Cyber-MAR Project Officer\, Mr. Markus Mueller and two reviewers. The first one was associate professor at Vilnius University\, faculty of Mathematics and Informatics with experience in cybersecurity\, including cyber trainings and exercises and the second one Vice President and delegate for Educational Offering UNINT (Rome University for international studies) and president of Fondazione FORMIT\, background Economy with an Executive Master in ICT Engineering\, external expert in ENISA Working Group on economics of security and resilience. \nThe concluding output was related to the satisfactory progress of Cyber-MAR team and the anticipation of the upcoming activities.

SUMMARY:DEVPORT International Conference 2020\, Virtual
DESCRIPTION:DEVPORT 2020 was the third edition of the DEVPORT international symposium on ports\, maritime transport and regional development and was conducted on October 15-16 2020 virtually. It constitutes an extension of the DEVPORT project\, which aims to develop a network of researchers working on maritime and port issues as well as on the terrestrial impacts of these activities. \n \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nOur colleagues from WMU prepared a paper etitled “Effectiveness of Cybersecurity Training and Awareness Raising within the Maritime Logistics Domain” and was presented by Mrs. Monica Canepa through an interesting presentation followed by a costructive discussion\, during the second day of the conference. SUMMARY:Ports Maritime Waterways Forum
DESCRIPTION:The Ports\, Maritime & Waterways (PMW) Forum represents the UK on the CNE (Committee of North Sea Ports). \nWhilst being three very different areas within logistics\, Ports\, Maritime and Waterways are all vital elements of the supply chain. The PMW Forum is the only one which looks at the holistic overview of how these three sectors operate and interact with each other. \nPMW was established because these areas are often overlooked within general logistics\, but without them most supply chains would not function. \nThe maritime sector is global in nature and growing\, with ships carrying 80% of global trade. Seaborne trade is predicted to double by 2030 in line with the forecast growth in international trade. Around 95% of the goods imported and exported by the UK are transported by sea. This includes about 40% of our food and about one quarter of our energy. An effective ports and shipping sector is vital to generating growth across the whole UK economy and increasing exports from the UK. \nOn october 1st 2020\, UoP colleagues showcased the Plymouth cyber-mar video at an internal Cyber Awareness Day event at the company Eaton – Demonstration.

DESCRIPTION:The Hong Kong Polytechnic University organised the 28th Annual Conference of the International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME) on Sustainable Development of Shipping and Trade.In light of the growing concerns on the COVID-19 pandemic around the globe\, the IAME 2020 conference on-site at PolyU scheduled on 10-13 June 2020\, was finally arranged as an online event only. \n  \n  \n  \nCyber-MAR colleagues have successfully submitted an extended abstract entitled as “Cyber-security training platform on realistic maritime logistics scenarios“\, which was presented during the first day by  Dr. Dimitrios Dalaklis from World Maritime University. A status presentation was presented per work package\, followed by a discussion regarding the next steps to follow henceforward. \nSpecial attention was also given to the Cyber-MAR platform end user and system requirements\, the System design and architecture\, Cyber-MAR risk analysis\, as well as the Cyber-MAR Pilots and Simulations. \nPart of the day was also devoted to discussions about the potential arising risks posed by COVID-19\, which could affect the Cyber-MAR project. DESCRIPTION:TRA2020\, the 8th Transport Research Arena\, which was planned to be held on 27-30 April 2020 in Helsinki\, was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. \nThe work prepared for the TRA2020 has been presented in this Book of Abstracts and has been peer-reviewed and accepted for the conference. Authors were encouraged to publish their full paper in a repository of their choice with a mention of TRA2020. Authors were invited to provide a link to the full paper to be included in this Book of Abstracts. \nVTT collleuagues submitted a manuscript entitled “The Cyber Threat Preparedness in the Maritime Logistics Industry“. However\, the COVID-19 rapid spreading around the world raised the need for immediate adaptation in the new conditions. Therefore\, the Cyber-MAR consortium adapted in the new remote working conditions by organising the Plenary meeting virtually on the same dates. \nCyber-MAR partners presented the overall status of the Cyber-MAR project for the first 6 months\, focusing on the progress made under each Work Package. A status presentation was presented per work package\, followed by a discussion regarding the next steps to follow henceforward. \nDuring the first day\, special focus was given on the Cyber-MAR platform end user and system requirements\, the System design and architecture\, Cyber-MAR risk analysis\, as well as the Cyber-MAR Pilots and Simulations. \nThe second day was mainly focused on the Training activities that are going to be organised throughout the project’s lifetime to raise awareness\, the Dissemination/Communication activities\, as well as the Exploitation activities and the Policy recommendations. SUMMARY:FIC 2020 - International Cybersecurity Forum in Paris
DESCRIPTION:“Putting human beings at the heart of Cybersecurity” \n\nWhat if users were not only a threat\, but rather one of the answers to the challenges posed by cybersecurity? \nInstead of ‘zero trust’ architectures based on ‘distrust by default’\, it would certainly be more effective –and cheaper– to put users in a central position\, to turn them into real cybersecurity players within their organisation. However\, this approach would require to rethink the ‘Human-Machine’ interactions\, to make security more intuitive\, and to integrate the ‘security by default’ requirement into processes and uses. In other words\, to give priority to the ‘user experience’… \nThe goal is certainly not to oppose Human Beings and technology! On the contrary\, the aim is to make the most of both: on the one hand\, users whose awareness has been raised and who have been empowered will not try to systematically bypass security rules; on the other hand\, more ’empathic’ technologies would better adapt to users’ needs and put more emphasis on data security\, as close as possible to users. \n\nCyber-MAR project was one of the 2\,500 visitors of the International Cybersecurity Forum (FIC) \, leading European event on Cybersecurity\, has just closed the doors of its 12th edition\, at the Grand Palais in Lille. \nThe event was relied on a Trade fair for buyers and suppliers of cybersecurity solutions to meet and network and a forum to foster reflection and exchanges among the European cybersecurity ecosystem. \nCyber-MAR participated in a workshop organised within the Paris Call for Trust and Security in Cyberspace: “Building on the momentum of the community to move forward“\,took place the 3rd day of the FIC 2020. \n

SUMMARY:Navigate Maritime Trade Fair 2020\, in Turku\, Finland
DESCRIPTION:NaviGate expo 2020 was an interesting and interdisciplinary look into the sector’s industry and logistics in Turku\, Finland on the 22nd and 23rd of January\, 2020. Navigate 2020\, organized bi-annually\, featured topics such as maritime industry\, maritime logistics and shipping. The event in January 2020 attracted 2024 visitors to meet and collaborate. \nNAVIGATE 2020 brought together shipowners and operators\, terminal operators and regulators\, and importantly the next generation of industry into one room to collaborate and discuss the future challenges and opportunities.  The event was an important meeting place that offered participants the opportunity to network and create new contacts and reinforce existing ones. The programme featured two themes that are currently the industry’s hottest topics. \n\nDay one: Future of knowledge and know-how in marine industries\nDay two: Responsible Maritime logistics\n\nMr. Harri Pyykkö from VTT\, participated in Navigate Maritime Trade Fair in Turku and had some constructive dialog with professor Magnus Hellström. DESCRIPTION:ΙΤS Hellas\, the “Hellenic Association for the deployment of Intelligent Transport Systems” organised the 5th Conference entitled: “Intelligent Transport Systems in Greece: Latest developments”\, on Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 December 2019 in Athens\, Greece. \nAs previous editions\, the main objective of this event\, organised under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport\, was to discuss the broad deployment of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) as a tool to achieve economic growth and prosperity and ensure the effectiveness\, efficiency and safety of transport for the benefit of the respective industry\, the end-users and the environment. \nSEABility attended the event\, by being also one of the conference exhibitors\, offering to the visitors the opportunity to learn about the company’s activities stemming from its participation in European Research and Innovation Projects related to the areas of electromobility\, intelligent transport systems\, the use of advanced technologies for increasing ports’ and logistics’ efficiency and the use of cyber range in the maritime logistics. \n \nIn parallel\, during this important for the Hellenic transport sector event\, prominent Greek and foreign speakers thoroughly discussed and presented a number of key-topics\, through several sessions and round table discussions: \n\nEuropean Developments and Good Practices in the field of ITS;\nNew ITS technologies in Greece;\nNew ITS technologies for highways: needs and challenges;\nDevelopment Strategy and Policies;\nITS for a sustainable mobility and Greek excellence;\nIntelligent Freight Transport.\n\n \nThe detailed programme can be found here.

DESCRIPTION:Location:\nPCT S.A.\, Neo Ikonio\, Perama (Big Meeting Room) \nDriving Instructions:\nhttp://www.pct.com.gr/PRImages/EditorImages/Driving%20Instructions%20to%20PCT%20From%20Piraeus.pdf \nDate: 28 November 2019\nTime: 09:30 – 13:30 \nCyber-MAR: Cyber preparedness actions for a holistic approach and awareness raising in the MARitime logistics supply chain    \nThe Port Container Terminal (PCT S.A.)\, partner of the Cyber-MAR consortium\, organizes an End-User Workshop in Piraeus\, Greece on 28th of November 2019\, as part of the H2020 EU project Cyber-MAR. \nThe 3-year Cyber-MAR project\, will build a cyber-preparedness platform that can better prepare ports’\, shipping operators’ and other actors’ responsible teams and colleagues within the maritime logistics value chain\, in defending cyber-attacks and identify potential vulnerabilities in their systems and processes. \nDuring the end-users workshop the concept of cyber-range will be thoroughly presented and the main simulation environment\, on which Cyber-MAR platform is based\, will be demonstrated by the Cyber-MAR team. \n \nThe experience\, along with the ideas and expectations of all the interested members are valuable tools for the future of the Cyber-MAR platform. Therefore\, a constructive cross-discipline dialogue towards shaping Cyber-MAR preparedness platform will facilitate an almost realistic training environment and will fulfill the aim of this workshop\, which is the specification of the actual needs of the end-users. \nIn this context\, the procedures of data collection have already been started through the publication of a dedicated questionnaire. This research survey aims at collecting the needs and requirements of end-users\, in order to implement a highly customizable training platform on cybersecurity\, targeting to cover all actors involved in the maritime logistics value chain. SUMMARY:Marine and Maritime Cyber Security in MBTC\, Plymouth
DESCRIPTION:The Marine Business Technology Centre (MBTC)\, based in Plymouth organises several events designed to bring together digital and marine businesses\, with networking and learning opportunities focused on key industry challenges. In this context the Marine and Maritime Cyber Security event took place on 5th of November at Plymouth Marine Station. \nProf. Nathan Clarke and Mr. Steve Rice from University of Plymouth with the presentation entitled as “Maritime Cyber Threats research group”\, gave a comprehensive overview of the modern cyber threats in the maritime sector\, as well as the existing awareness and research level. SUMMARY:Cyber-MAR kick-off meeting in Porto Heli
DESCRIPTION:Cyber-MAR is an EU-funded innovation action\, that addressed the call SU-DS01-2018 of the H2020 Programme and consists of 13 partners from 8 EU countries\, united in their vision to boost cyber preparedness in the maritime sector as a highly prioritize aspect. \nThe kick-off meeting of the Cyber-MAR project was hosted by ICCS in Porto Heli\, between 18th and 20th September\, 2019. The project partners had their first interaction\, that will lead to a fruitful future collaboration. \n \nThe Kick-off meeting marked the starting point for the constructive and successful collaboration between all partners. The project’s goals were thoroughly identified during the meeting and also each Work Package leader gave a detailed overview of his roles\, responsibilities and visions. The primary goal of the meeting was to provide a thorough review of the project\, focusing on the project’s goals and expectations and classification of the 1st semester activities. \nThrough Cyber-MAR\, the maritime logistics value chain actors will increase their cyber-awareness level and will validate their business continuity management\, towards minimizing their business disruption potential.
