Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, organised on 08th-10th of November 2022 the International Ship Control Systems Symposium (iSCSS 2022).

The aim of the symposium for 2022 was ‘human machine teaming in ship control’, which strived to get the best out of collaboration between the human and control systems.

The vision was summarised as follows: “While the complexity of operations at sea continue to increase, society demands maritime operations to be intelligent, sustainable, and safe, both for naval and commercial operations. To achieve these goals, we need to grasp the opportunity novel technologies like autonomous systems and artificial intelligence provide, while ensuring we involve the human when needed, in design and in operation of control systems“.

Cyber-MAR was represented by UoP colleagues, Juan Dorje Palbar Misas, Rory Hopcraft and Dr Kimberly Tam submitted a paper entitled “Future of Maritime Autonomy: Cybersecurity, Trust and Mariner’s Situation Awareness“. Paper is available here.

An homonymous corresponding presentation as also delivered during the event by Mr. Juan Dorje Palbar Misas. His presentation can be found here.
