The Ports, Maritime & Waterways (PMW) Forum represents the UK on the CNE (Committee of North Sea Ports).

Whilst being three very different areas within logistics, Ports, Maritime and Waterways are all vital elements of the supply chain. The PMW Forum is the only one which looks at the holistic overview of how these three sectors operate and interact with each other.

PMW was established because these areas are often overlooked within general logistics, but without them most supply chains would not function.

The maritime sector is global in nature and growing, with ships carrying 80% of global trade. Seaborne trade is predicted to double by 2030 in line with the forecast growth in international trade. Around 95% of the goods imported and exported by the UK are transported by sea. This includes about 40% of our food and about one quarter of our energy. An effective ports and shipping sector is vital to generating growth across the whole UK economy and increasing exports from the UK.
