Taking place as a week-long online event, incorporating sessions from around the world, the IMarEST Annual Conference 2022 explored key topics across marine engineering, science & technology, and provided delegates with an unrivalled opportunity to participate in debates, to learn about subjects outside their day-to-day work, and to make new professional connections.

IMarEST Annual Conference 2022 took place on 4th to 8th of July 2022. The conference took place online (using the IMarEST’s online conference platform), with speakers and delegates able to attend, and network with each other, from anywhere in the world.

The programme, covered a range of streams surrounding the conference theme: ‘In pursuit of marine sustainability’. The programme included key topics, including but not limited to:

  • Clean energy and transport – Climate change, decarbonisation, green marine, Net Zero
  • Nature-based solutions – Blue carbon, coastal protection, ocean plastics, Ecological engineering
  • Adaptation and resilience – Artificial Intelligence, Cyber security, Diversity in the marine industry,
  • Human element, Safety, training for the next marine generation

Dr Kimberly Tam, Lecturer in Cybersecurity & Academic lead of Cyber-SHIP Lab in University of Plymouth, presented Cyber-MAR, towards delivering a presentation entitled ‘Cybersecurity & Autonomy Understanding cyber related risks and vulnerabilities‘. Her presentation can be found here.
