The 2021 Maritime Risk Symposium, hosted by the University of Houston College of Technology, was held November 2-4, 2021, in virtual format.

The Maritime Risk Symposium is an annual professional conference in which government and maritime industry leaders, port representatives, researchers, and solution providers convene to examine current and emerging threats to maritime security.

Through presentations, panels, and open forums, the 2021 Maritime Risk Symposium was organized into five tracks, highlighting the areas of:

  • Decarbonization and the Transition to Green Technologies

  • Autonomous Vessels and Systems

  • Cybersecurity

  • Security and Resilience of the Maritime Supply Chain

  • The Arctic Maritime.   

Dr Kimberly Tam from University of Plymouth, partner of Cyber-MAR project, delivered a presentation (available here) with the session entitled ‘Maritime Cybersecurity – The Business of Protection‘ on the 3rd of November 2021.
