The Korea Maritime Institute (KMI) and the Shanghai International Shipping Institute (SISI) were honored to be able to host the International Association of Maritime Economists Conference 2022 (IAME Conference 2022), hold in Busan, Korea, September 14-16, 2022. Since its foundation in 1992, IAME has developed into an international association with over 300 individual members from every continent and more than 10 corporate members. The Association is officially linked to two leading academic journals within the field: Maritime Policy & Management and Maritime Economics & Logistics.

KMI has an unique friendship with IAME as it hosted first the IAME Conference in Seoul in 1994 and  celebrated the 30th IAME Conference in Korea in 2022. Under the theme of “Impact of COVID-19 on the Maritime Industry: Challenges and Responses”, the IAME Conference 2022 aimed to share the latest information and knowledge on global shipping and trends and reinforce social networks among participants from a range of different fields.

KMI and SISI invited distinguished professors and researchers to the conference, which gave to the participants the chance to listen to invaluable insights on their research results and advance developments in the global shipping industry. The conference in 2022 inspired participants from various countries with innovations and new collaborations between academia, government, and industries in response to a rapidly changing society.

Cyber-MAR colleagues from UoP and WMU, have successfully submitted a paper entitled as “Cyber-MAR dynamic Awareness Raising – An Integrated Maritime Cyber Risk Management Approach”. The paper was presented by Dr. Monica Canepa & Dr. Stavros Karamperidis in the Parallel session L1-2. Others / Rm 218, on the 15th of September 2022.
